Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory

Since 1994 Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory has been giving young people a solid foundation in the basics of theatre. The fun and engaging training at Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory is constructed so that children of grades 3-12 work together, as well as with their peers, providing a unique youth theater opportunity for all. The best education is a well-rounded one, so The Conservatory encourages students to explore every aspect of the theater. Students attend master classes in Playwriting, Directing, Audition Technique, Stage Combat, Theatre History, Scene Design, Movement, Voice, and Comedy as well as acting training with monologues, duologues, and exercises. Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory is a Not- for-profit organization and a division of Gold Coast Performing Arts Association.

Gold Coast Theatre Conservatory also offers the Acting Academy for Autism, which is a serious theatre program for the high-functioning young person with autism or Asperger's Syndrome. We are theatre teachers who have been working with young people for decades. Along the way, we have encountered children with autism who came alive on stage. This course has been designed by a group that includes teachers who are credentialed in special needs, adults who have autism, student teachers, and theatre training professionals. Our goal is to honor the sensibilities of young people with autism and provide a safe and fun atmosphere in which they can study theatre. Students gain self confidence, a greater ability to overcome social challenges, and learn to trust and learn to allow others to trust them.
