Volunteers Needed: Safe Place for Youth

Safe Place for Youth (SPY) provides a caring connection and access to critical resources for young people, ages 12-25, experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. The Healing Arts Program at Safe Place for Youth (SPY) provides members with a nurturing environment for creative expression. Homeless youth come from a wide variety of traumatic experiences and when given the chance to create art and express themselves in a safe, supported, and judgement-free space, they have the opportunity to heal.

The Art Studio is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 1:00 to 5:00 pm, during drop-in service hours and provides an open studio with supplies, workshops, and creative sessions.

We are in need of volunteer drumming facilitators, clay teachers, mixed media and collage facilitators, and studio assistants for one time sessions or ongoing weekly volunteering. Groups range in size from 2 to10 people, and this is a great opportunity to facilitate in a very diverse and energetic setting. All sessions are drop-in, so also a great opportunity to practice SEA skills.
